Socializing in the City

August 25th, 2009 by Sheree Morgan

The most common complaint that I get from singles in Vancouver is that people don’t socialize and unfortunately they are correct.   Women tell me that men don’t approach them and men say they are waiting for the women to approach them or that women are not approachable. The end result is no one is stepping out of their comfort zone and very few are actively socializing. Both parties are waiting for the other one to make the first move and with social media  everywhere, no one is actually talking and meeting face to face. The reason so many people have gone online to  meet someone of the opposite sex is because  they feel a sense of security at home. They feel they are not risking rejection online, because no one can see them. Sorry, but you still have to meet them in person and most often they don’t quite measure up to the image they have portrayed online. In reality there is alot of rejection going on online.  As you can tell I do not recommend online dating, you  have no idea who is on the other end! Every time you turn on the news  lately you hear of someone else that was assaulted, robbed or killed by someone that they connected with online. It is the major reason that I started Match-Works Matchmaking, to give singles a safe effective way to meet others that are just as selective and unique as they are. It is the reason that I do full background checks on everyone and I mean everyone.

I have had many people ask me about workshops to help singles in Vancouver learn how to socialize easily and effectively.  So that’s what I did, I created (Socializing in the City) Workshops. I have been fortunate enough to partner with  Christine and Blenz Coffee shop at Richards and Davie.  As a Coffee shop owner that is very active in her community, she has been  generous enough to allow me the space for my workshops. You will find all the information you need for the workshops at this link . http://www.match-works.com/Workshops.html

My first workshop will be for men only, to allow them the comfort and privacy of asking questions and participating in a very Social Workshop. I will discuss  how Men and Women think  differently and explain why this is important if you wish to have positive results socializing with the opposite sex. I will show you how to approach them easily and effectively at the one place that is accessible to everyone, the coffee shop! The next class will be about making sure that your first date is not your last date. We are not talking brain surgery here, just simple effective things to do that will definitely give you an edge over other single men in Vancouver. I promise it will be painless and the results will surprise you. Â

My next workshop will be for women only, in order to allow them the same comfort and privacy. I will discuss how  men and women think differently and  how they can increase the odds of  having men approach them easily. Our local coffee shops are perfect places to socialize but singles rarely do it. I will show you how and why it is so effective. There are some simple and effective ways to make sure you will not go unnoticed. It will be a fun and light approach to Socializing in the City.

For a hysterically funny look at  of  men’s and women’s brains by Mark Gungor,  follow this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxtUH_bHBxs Just try not to laugh, I bet you can’t do it. It explains alot. :)

I am very excited about these workshops.  If you have any questions or  to pre-register go to  http://www.match-works.com/Workshops.html If you  have any other subjects that you would like discussed in other workshops, I invite your suggestions. matchmaker@match-works.com

After both of these workshops are over I will be arranging evenings at Blenz Coffee shops specifically for singles, stay tuned for more information regarding these dates. :)
